Section 2: Precautions, Protective Clothing & Equipment, and Re-entry Restriction
PRECAUTIONS:
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. May irritate eyes. Harmful if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through skin. Prolonged or frequently repeated skin contact may cause allergic reactions in some individuals. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothing. Wear protective eyewear. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling and before eating, drinking, or smoking. If product comes in contact with clothing, remove all contaminated clothing, wash skin with soap and water and dress in clean clothing. Launder applicator clothing separate from other laundry. Apply only when the potential for drift to areas of human habitation or areas of human activity such as houses, cottages, schools and recreational areas is minimal. Take into consideration wind speed, wind direction, temperature inversions, application equipment and sprayer settings. DO NOT enter or allow worker entry into treated areas during the restricted entry interval (REI) of 12 days after an application to perform detasseling in corn. For all other activities in all crops, DO NOT enter or allow worker entry into treated areas during the REI of 24 hours. If this pest control product is to be used on a commodity that may be exported and you require information regarding Maximum Residue Limits for an importing country, please contact Bayer CropScience Canada Inc. at 1-888-283-6847 or www.cropscience.bayer.ca .
PROTECTIVE CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT:
Wear a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, chemical-resistant gloves, socks and boots during mixing, loading, application, clean-up and repair. In addition, wear safety goggles or a face shield during mixing, loading, clean-up and repair. Gloves are not required during application within a closed cab or cockpit.
FIRST AID:
IF SWALLOWED: Call a poison control centre or doctor immediately for treatment advice. Do not induce vomiting unless told to do so by a poison control centre or doctor. Do not give any liquid to the person. Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
IF IN EYES: Hold eye open and rinse slowly and gently with water for 15-20 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present, after the first 5 minutes, then continue rinsing eye. Call a poison control centre or doctor for treatment advice.
IF ON SKIN OR CLOTHING: Take off contaminated clothing. Rinse skin immediately with plenty of water for 15-20 minutes. Call a poison control centre or doctor for treatment advice.
IF INHALED: Move person to fresh air. If person is not breathing, call 911 or an ambulance, then give artificial respiration, preferably by mouth-to-mouth, if possible. Call a poison control centre or doctor for further treatment advice.
Take container, label, or product name and Pest Control Product Registration number with you when seeking medical attention.
TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION:
- Treat symptomatically.
- Medical Personnel should contact Bayer’s Medical Information Services, Toll-Free: 1-800-334-7577.
TOXIC to aquatic organisms and non-target terrestrial plants. Toxic to certain beneficial arthropods (which may include predatory and parasitic insects, spiders, and mites). Minimize spray drift to reduce harmful effects on beneficial arthropods in habitats next to the application site such as hedgerows and woodland. Observe spray buffer zones specified under DIRECTIONS FOR USE.
To reduce runoff from treated areas into aquatic habitats avoid application to areas with a moderate to steep slope, compacted soil, or clay.
Avoid application when heavy rain is forecast.
Contamination of aquatic areas as a result of runoff may be reduced by including a vegetative filter strip between the treated area and the edge of the water body.
This product demonstrates the properties and characteristics associated with chemicals detected in ground water. The use of STRATEGO PRO Fungicide in areas where soils are permeable, particularly where the water table is shallow, may result in ground water contamination.

Suppression of fusarium and gibberella ear rots (Fusarium spp. and Gibberella spp.) Suppression of stalk rots (Fusarium spp., Gibberella spp. and Colletotrichum spp.) which may cause stalk lodging
|
Apply STRATEGO PRO Fungicide at 572 mL/ha in a tank-mix with Proline 480 SC Foliar Fungicide at 210 mL/ha. DO NOT apply this tank-mix with an adjuvant.
Do not apply more than 1 application of STRATEGO PRO Fungicide per crop year, when tank-mixed with Proline 480 SC Foliar Fungicide.
Do not make applications of STRATEGO PRO Fungicide alone in addition to this use of STRATEGO PRO Fungicide in a tank mix with PROLINE 480 SC Foliar Fungicide.
|
|
Timing of application is critical: For optimum suppression of fusarium and gibberella ear rots, apply the tank-mix of STRATEGO PRO Fungicide plus Proline 480 SC Foliar Fungicide from the development stage of corn between the tip of stigmata visible (silking, BBCH 63) to the stigmata drying (silk browning, BBCH 67). The tank-mix of STRATEGO PRO Fungicide plus Proline 480 SC Foliar Fungicide will reduce both disease symptoms and levels of mycotoxin in the grain.
Fusarium and gibberella ear rots outbreaks in corn occur when the weather is warm and wet during silking. It is also driven by hybrid selection and field history of severe fusarium outbreaks. The application of this tank-mix for protection against fusarium and gibberella ear rots should be considered when these conditions are forecasted for a specific corn field. Applications of this tank-mix timed for suppression of fusarium and gibberella ear rots may also reduce lodging caused by stalk rot pathogens.

Tank mixes:
This product may be tank mixed with a fertilizer, a supplement, or with registered pest control products, whose labels also allow tank mixing, provided the entirety of both labels, including Directions For Use, Precautions, Restrictions, Environmental Precautions, and Spray Buffer Zones are followed for each product. In cases where these requirements differ between the tank mix partner labels, the most restrictive label must be followed. Do not tank mix products containing the same active ingredient unless specifically listed on this label.
In some cases, tank mixing pest control products can result in reduced pesticide efficacy or increased host crop injury. The user should contact Bayer CropScience Inc. at 1-888-283-6847 or www.cropscience.bayer.ca for information before applying any tank mix that is not specifically recommended on this label.
Bayer CropScience Inc. has not fully assessed performance (efficacy) and/or crop tolerance (phytotoxicity) of all potential tank mixes under all environmental conditions or for all crop varieties. Tank mixes that are not specifically listed on this label should be tested on a small area first, under local conditions and using standard practices, to confirm the tank mix is suitable for widespread application.
To determine the physical compatibility of this product with other products, use a jar test.
Spray Buffer zones:
Spot treatments using hand-held equipment DO NOT require a spray buffer zone.
The spray buffer zones specified in the table below are required between the point of direct application and the closest downwind edge of sensitive terrestrial habitats (such as grasslands, forested areas, shelter belts, woodlots, hedgerows, riparian areas and shrublands), sensitive freshwater habitats (such as lakes, rivers, sloughs, ponds, prairie potholes, creeks, marshes, streams, reservoirs and wetlands) and estuarine/marine habitats.

When tank mixes are permitted, consult the labels of the tank-mix partners and observe the largest (most restrictive) spray buffer zone of the products involved in the tank mixture and apply using the coarsest spray (ASAE) category indicated on the labels for those tank mix partners.
The spray buffer zones for this product can be modified based on weather conditions and spray equipment configuration by accessing the Spray Buffer Zone Calculator on the Pesticides portion of the Canada.ca website.
Rotation restrictions:
Resistance Management Recommendations:
For resistance management, please note that STRATEGO PRO Fungicide contains Group 3 and 11 fungicides. Any fungal population may contain individuals naturally resistant to STRATEGO PRO Fungicide and other Group 3and 11 fungicides. A gradual or total loss of pest control may occur over time if these fungicides are used repeatedly in the same fields. Other resistance mechanisms that are not linked to site of action but specific for individual chemicals, such as enhanced metabolism, may also exist. Appropriate resistance-management strategies should be followed.
GROUND APPLICATION:
1. Use well-maintained and calibrated conventional spray equipment, which provides adequate and uniform coverage.
2. Apply STRATEGO PRO Fungicide in a minimum of 100 L water/ha, unless otherwise specified in DIRECTIONS FOR USE, Section 7.
3. Spray screens should be no finer than 50 mesh.
4. Ensure that the by-pass line discharges at the bottom of the tank to minimize foaming.
5. Maintain pressure at no less than 275 kPa to ensure good foliage penetration and coverage.
6. Provincial spray buffer zones that are greater than the spray buffer zones indicated in the DIRECTIONS FOR USE, Section 7, should be respected.
7. If spray mixture remains in the tank overnight, or for long periods during the day, agitate thoroughly prior to application.
AERIAL APPLICATION-GENERAL INFORMATION:
1. Apply only by fixed-wing or rotary aircraft equipment which has been functionally and operationally calibrated for the atmospheric conditions of the area and the application rates and conditions of this label.
2. Label rates, conditions and precautions are product specific. Read and understand the entire label before opening this product. Apply only at the rate recommended for aerial application on this label. Where no rate for aerial application appears for the specific use, this product cannot be applied by any type of aerial equipment. If you have questions, call 1-888-283-6847 or obtain technical advice from the distributor or your provincial agricultural representative.
3. Ensure uniform application. To avoid streaked, uneven or overlapped application, use appropriate marking devices.
4. Apply STRATEGO PRO Fungicide in a minimum of 50 L of water/ha.
5. To ensure proper coverage and distribution and to minimize drift, check to see that swath width and droplet size are adequate, and that wind velocities are low.
6. Use mechanical flaggers only.
AERIAL APPLICATION-USE PRECAUTIONS:
1. Apply only when meteorological conditions at the treatment site allow for complete and even crop coverage.
2. Apply only under conditions of good practice specific to aerial application as outlined in the National Aerial Pesticide Application Manual, developed by the Federal/Provincial/Territorial Committee on Pest Management and Pesticides.
AERIAL APPLICATION- OPERATOR PRECAUTIONS:
